Elder financial abuse is surging, and your financial institution's staff can be the difference between catching it early and a member or customer losing their savings.

The FBI reports that Americans ages 60+ lost $7.7 billion to elder fraud in 2025, up 60% from the year before. Elder financial exploitation takes many forms: romance scams, investment fraud, grandparent scams, and caregivers or family members abusing power of attorney. Each scheme leaves different clues, cases are often vastly underreported, and they can lead to mental and emotional trauma for the victims.

RiskScout’s latest webinar follows the full arc of elder fraud in one BSA and compliance training session.

• Prevention: how families and financial institutions can stop elder exploitation before it starts

• Detection: how financial exploitation shows up in account activity and how to detect it

• Investigation: what happens after a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) is filed

Join Corey Lynch, CAMS, RiskScout's Senior Product Manager, to hear the red flags his team sees every day, Steven Shapiro, Criminal ASAC with the FBI, on how SAR filings support real elder fraud investigations, and Todd Wascom, VP of Sales at Carefull, on how prevention tools protect families before exploitation starts.

What You’ll Learn

  • Scheme types driving elder fraud losses today and how each one unfolds

  • The red flags that separate normal account activity from financial exploitation in progress

  • How to train staff and educate members/customers to catch and report before damage is done

  • How SAR filings fit into FBI investigations, and how your BSA reporting supports law enforcement
